A better journey
starts with better planning.

Choose the anchor experience

If gorillas are your priority, begin with your preferred activity and permit availability. If the broader safari is the focus, decide how much time you want to spend in each landscape. A short trip should have a clear center rather than an ambitious list of stops.

Match the lodge to the activity

Accommodation quality matters, but location matters too. In Bwindi, the permit’s trekking sector affects where you should stay and how the morning transfer works. Ask for the actual lodge name, room category, distance from the briefing point, and the transfer plan.

Compare flights and road transfers

Flying can shorten some travel days, but the full journey includes airport or airstrip transfers, flight schedules, baggage conditions, and onward driving. Ask for a door-to-door plan rather than comparing flight time with driving time alone.

Give the itinerary breathing room

Keep the gorilla activity day flexible. Build a buffer around international connections. Include time to enjoy the lodge rather than treating every overnight as a transfer stop. For a five-day route, adding a night may create a better experience than adding another destination.

Read the quotation closely

• Are permit charges included, and is availability confirmed?
• Which meals, drinks, laundry, and activities are included?
• Are flights private charters, scheduled services, or still provisional?
• What happens if an activity or flight changes?
• What are the deposit, cancellation, and refund terms?
