How much does a luxury Uganda safari cost?
There is no single reliable price for every private safari. The main variables are travel dates, party size, number of nights, room category, gorilla activity, transport, and inclusions. A short fly-in journey and a longer road itinerary can have very different cost structures.
Nile Mist does not publish a fixed tariff for its proposed itineraries. Request a dated quotation with named suppliers and clear assumptions so you can assess what the total includes.
The six decisions that shape the quote
1. Activity permits
Standard gorilla tracking and habituation are separate activities. Check the specific permit, eligibility category, date, and availability. Ask whether the quoted total includes the permit and whether its cancellation rules differ from the rest of the trip.
2. Accommodation and rooms
Property, room category, occupancy, and number of nights influence cost. A room described as luxury is not a substitute for the lodge name and the precise room booked. Compare included meals, drinks, and other services.
3. Flights and ground transfers
Separate scheduled flights from private charters. Include airport and airstrip transfers in the comparison. Read our fly-in versus road guide before choosing the transport plan.
4. Private guide and vehicle arrangements
Clarify vehicle specifications, guide arrangements, included driving days, and whether the ground service is exclusively for your party. Party size changes the way shared trip costs are divided.
5. Travel dates and itinerary pace
Availability and supplier terms depend on dates. Extra nights can add cost while reducing rushed connections. Compare the full experience rather than treating the shortest itinerary as automatically the best value.
6. Inclusions and exclusions
Check meals, beverages, optional activities, tips, personal expenses, insurance, and international flights. Mark any unconfirmed item so it cannot be mistaken for an inclusion.
A checklist for comparing safari proposals
- Are both proposals for the same dates, guests, and room occupancy?
- Do they include the same permit activity and the correct sector?
- Are the actual lodges and room categories named?
- Are flights scheduled services or private charters?
- Are taxes and required transfers included?
- What currency is payable, and which charges sit outside the total?
- Which supplier services are still subject to confirmation?
Before paying a deposit
Request a written invoice, deposit schedule, cancellation terms, and confirmation process. Establish which arrangements are confirmed and which remain provisional. Use the payment instructions attached to the verified invoice; never include card details in the inquiry form.
For agencies, agree net pricing, the invoicing currency, guest communication, and responsibility for changes in the travel-trade proposal.
